Dear Reflections Participants and Supporters:
In January, all of the 1st Place winners in the Guilford PTA Reflections Art Contest moved on to the next level of competition and were judged against their peers from other towns in the State of CT Reflections Contest.
Allison and I have the honor of announcing the results of our Guilford students at the State level.

The number of winners from Guilford this year is truly amazing and is a clear reflection of the quality of arts education our kids receive from our district and community at large.
First place winners are now on their way to Washington D.C. to be judged at the National PTA level. We wish them all our very best!

REFLECTIONS
On Sunday afternoon, January 24, The Guilford Art Center was crowded with parents, students and guests for the 4th Guilford PTA Reflections Art Program show. GAC donated its Mill Gallery to showcase nearly 100 entries in four categories: visual arts, musical composition, photography and literature. This year’s entries, based around the theme, “Beauty”, were submitted by eighty-two students in grades PreK-12. The first place winning entries will go on to compete at the State, and possibly National, level.

MUSICAL COMPOSITION

The visual arts entries were judged by Kathryn H. Greene, director of the Greene Gallery and Adam Raiti, a freelance illustrator and art teacher at Berlin High School; literature was judged by Dr. Anne Keene, Asst. Superintendent for Curriculum for Guilford Public Schools; photography judging was done by James Fiala, a professional photographer and creative media director, and by Joanne Schmaltz, an editorial and commercial photographer; Music was judged by Gail C. Etter, a music teacher and New Haven Chorale singer.
Musical background the day of the show was provided by a clarinet ensemble from Neighborhood Music School directed by Reesa Gringorten and violin/clarinet duo of Guilford High School students, Sadie Colcord and Kathleen Wallace. Kara Welch, GHS 1st place Musical Composition winner, also performed her acoustic guitar composition live.
